Hello everyone! I hope you've had a fantastic summer and are ready for a productive Fall semester!
This class is dedicated to the preproduction process of visual media. The skills you'll learn here will be applicable to not only 2D and 3D animation, but general illustration, comic books, visual effects and much more. Character Design is the live action equivalent of a casting director, finding the right face and acting style for the various roles of a story.
Character Design is very research and process oriented. There will be a few small assignments and exercises to help you get analytical, get used to the technology and get thinking about characters, and 3 large, long-term projects. This won't be an easy class, but it should be a lot of fun especially if you love characters!
In this blog you will find the syllabus, articles about Character Design, short films, tutorials.
Please make sure to read the syllabus carefully, especially regarding the absence policy and due dates.
If you find any good samples that are not on the blog, please let me know. I'm always looking for fresh information.
